Merkaba Macabre is a multimedia project by Steven McInerney, an Australian-born artist living in London. He creates recherché, abstract works utilising in-camera and camera-less 16mm techniques drawing inspiration from dichotomous energies; meditating between the sacred and the profane. Often blurring the lines between science and fiction, his work has been described ''..as if our primordial, survival-based emotions had been transferred into the external environment..” – The Wire Magazine
McInerney’s oeuvre expands over the last decade. His films have exhibited internationally and won numerous awards. His practice ranges from audiovisual and musical performance, installation, experimental film & video works and curatorial activities. McInerney is half of the expanded multimedia project IOME and runs Psyché Tropes, a label dedicated to exploring the synaesthetic intersections between sound and its visual counterpart.
