Merkaba Macabre is a multimedia project by Steven McInerney, an Australian born artist based in London. His practice ranges from audiovisual and musical performance, installation, experimental film & video works and curatorial projects.  He runs Psyché Tropes, a label releasing and exhibiting work by artists practising within cross-disciplinary fields.

Merkaba Macabre uses elements of electro-acoustic improvisation, modular synthesis, location recordings and film projection to explore themes of temporality and the psychospiritual with the intention of opening up a dialectic between the sacred and the profane.

Recent collaborations have included projects with Howlround, Pascal Savy, Janine A'Bear, Leila Bordreuil and Julia MacDonnell.

Merkaba Macabre - Iridescent (excerpt featuring Leila Bordreuil, Cello, & Julia MacDonell, French horn) is released on Wire Magazine's Th‍‍‍‍‍‍e  Wire Tapper #46 cd. Listen here. The full version of Iridescent appears on the forthcoming Iterations and Afterimages LP (tropes004). ‍‍
